Someone coloured my world today from Patricia Farrar on Vimeo.

Perhaps it’s a constant with artists to wonder if their work is actually saying what they want to say! This may be particularly so if you want the work to raise awareness of current world issues. This question led me to take part in a brief series of tutorials led by Garry Clarkson, OCA tutor, Photography, Creative Arts, Film and Moving Image. Although I wasn’t able to fully engage with the course for various reasons, it did stimulate new ideas about how to present my painting in new ways. The new technology was daunting but I managed to produce through iMovie a small ‘art movie’ exhibiting the work of the painting in the last post with a brief message. I wasn’t able technically to do the ‘fading in and out’ of text but it is a start. If time allows I hope to continue this media experimentation…

I've used my most recent painting in this art video with one image of a close up of the garden half way through. The cropped images of the painting show the complexity of the painting and attempt to reveal deep and hidden spaces. I want the colours to reflect the joy and magnificence of the natural world. The inclusion of the text of my three line poem conveys my concerns about attitudes to climate change and its effects on the natural world. Without our love and care, its future is in the balance.
